 DEFY Masonry Chimney Water Repellent
is a modified siloxane based product specifically designed for chimneys to penetrate deeply in to most masonry and concrete pores. Unlike acrylics, silicones, and other waterproofing sealers that form a film on the surface and trap water vapors, DEFY masonry waterproofing products allow deep penetration of the active ingredients of up to 1/4 inch or more.

As a result, the special siloxanes in DEFY Masonry Chimney Water Repellent react to form strong chemical bonds beneath a treated surface. These bonds allow the product to become a physical part of the structure and provide long-lasting water repellent protection without altering the appearance of the brick.

Breathable Masonry Waterproofing Prevents Chimney Water Damage
Moisture, from either internal or external sources, is usually present in brick, masonry, and concrete. A DEFY Masonry Chimney Water Repellent treatment is 100% vapor permeable, which allows the water vapors to escape. This reduces costly chimney repair such as spalling, scaling, deterioration, and freeze-thaw damage that results from trapped moisture when film-forming water sealers are used. The best way to prevent chimney water damage is by using chimney repair products such as DEFY penetrating (non film-forming) water repellents that will allow vapors to pass through.

Stops Water Leaks and Prevents Cracking

DEFY Brushable Crown Repair is a fast setting elastomeric coating that forms a flexible waterproof membrane. It's specifically formulated to repair and protect chimney crowns from water intrusion. It stops leaks and prevents cracking and deterioration of the crown. DEFY Brushable Crown Repair is a masonry chimney crown repair product that is easy to apply with a 3" or 4" paint brush. It's very durable and requires no mixing or special bonding agents. The compounds are all solvent-free and will not harm the environment.

Long Lasting

Use this product wherever a long lasting exterior waterproof membrane is needed, such as masonry chimney crowns, chimney corbels, tops of masonry or parapet walls. Another use is for masonry window sills where bricks are laid in a soldier pattern at the base of the window. DEFY Brushable Crown Repair can be custom colored with small amounts of standard mortar dye.

Fast Drying
The major benefits of DEFY Brushable Crown Repair are its unique water based "quick dry" technology and its great coverage rate. The product completely cures in 2-4 hours depending on the temperature and humidity. The coverage rate is approximately 40 square feet per gallon.

Use Flashing Sealant to Repair Chimney Flashing Leaks

DEFY Elastomeric Flashing Sealant is an elastomeric sealant specially formulated to permanently adhere to asphalt shingles, aluminum flashing, brick and other chimney and roofing materials. Faulty or deteriorated flashings can cause leaks and water damage to the surrounding roof deck or eventually the interior finishes of your home.

Sealing Chimney Flashing that Resists Cracking

Unlike tar-based sealers, Defy Elastomeric Flashing Sealer is an elastomeric-based material that remains flexible over longer periods of time.  When applied, it will resist the typical brittleness and cracking associated with tar-based sealers that ultimately leads to their failure and need for replacement.

DEFY Elastomeric Flashing Sealant is excellent for use in stopping problem leaks around the base of chimneys, stacks and vents. When used to repair chimney flashing leak at the base of a chimney, Defy Elastomeric Flashing Sealant provides a weatherproof "boot of protection" for the chimney. It is also great for sealing around skylights. Repairing flashings that have been tarred, re-tarred or cracked has never been so easy. Available in 1/2 gallon plastic containers, each container covers approximately 14 linear feet and comes with a 7 year warranty.

Does Your Home Have An Uncapped Chimney?

If your answer is yes, you need a Gelco Chimney Top. Why? That's simple!

Your chimney is a hole in your roof!

 An uncapped chimney:

* Says "come on in, make yourself at home!" to nesting birds and animals.

 * Allows rain and snow to enter your chimney, which leads to moisture damage and expensive repairs.

* Creates a fire hazard as burning embers and sparks escape through the open chimney and land on your roof or in your yard.

Smoke Detectors and Fire Extinguishers - We recommend that customers purchase at least one smoke detector for each level of the home, including the basement, and to install smoke detectors near sleeping areas.  We also recommend that every homeowner have two 5-lb. hand-held, portable, ABC fire extinguishers.  The primary location should be in the kitchen since that is where most residential fires begin.  The other extinguisher should be installed in the garage or bedroom, it should be visible and accessible.
